Lesson Plans for January 30 to February 3

Math:  Students will learn to identify fractions as part of a whole.  We will discuss halves, thirds, and quarters.

Reading:  This week the students will read The Life Cycle of a Pumpkin.  We will learn to identify fact and opinion in text.  Reading test will be Thursday.

Language: Students will be able to identify an adjective in a sentence.  An adjective describes a person, place, or thing.  It can identify the number, size, or shape of something. Language test will be Friday.

Spelling:  Students will learn to read and write words with the vowels oo and u. The letters oo can stand for the vowel sound in book or moon. The letter u can stand for the short u vowel sound or the vowel sound as in book (ex. put). Spelling test will be Friday.

Social Science:  Students will learn about landforms and bodies of water.  They will compile the information into a student made glossary (which will be taken for a grade).
